Features: The "Adult Higher Education English" textbook organized and published by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Press has been used in many schools. Considering the actual situations and difficulties of adult English learning, especially for correspondence students in some institutions who primarily study the textbook through self-learning, after listening to suggestions from relevant institutions and students, we embarked on writing the supplementary "Self-Study Guide for Adult Higher Education English." The layout format of this book is largely consistent with the textbook, providing more detailed explanations and examples for difficult points in the text to help students consolidate their understanding. The introduction of grammar points in each chapter of this book has been significantly expanded compared to the textbook. With diligent study and completion of the accompanying exercises, students can certainly master the grammar difficulties of this textbook and lay a solid foundation for future learning. The book also includes selected grammar exercises, reading exercises, and periodic review exercises, which students can choose to use as needed. At the end of each unit, the book provides the text, reference translations of dialogues, and answers to all exercises from the "Adult Higher Education English" (4th Edition) textbook. Before referring to this content, students should first complete the learning and exercises related to the text to facilitate consolidation and improvement in their learning. Additionally, the answers provided for some exercises are reference answers, and some may have multiple acceptable expressions. Students are advised to pay attention to this or consult with their instructors. If there are any shortcomings in the writing of this book, we sincerely hope that teachers and students can point them out for correction in future editions.
