Features: After more than two years of effort, the National Committee for the Management of Livestock and Poultry Resources has completed the compilation of the Illustrated Atlas of Chinese Local Poultry Breeds. This atlas showcases the genetic diversity, breed characteristics, and conservation status of China's existing poultry breeds. It is a standard reference book that comprehensively reflects local resources, serving as an invaluable tool for national livestock workers engaged in poultry resource conservation, utilization, and research. Organized by the National Committee for the Management of Livestock and Poultry Genetic Resources, the Illustrated Atlas of Chinese Local Poultry Breeds was jointly compiled by institutions such as the National Livestock and Poultry Veterinary Station, the Poultry Research Institute of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and China Agricultural University, along with provincial and municipal livestock authorities. After more than two years of effort, it is now officially published, based on resource surveys and photo collections from all provinces and cities across the country. The book includes China's existing local poultry breeds, with 81 chicken breeds, 26 duck breeds, and 26 goose breeds. It will provide rich reference materials for resource conservation, research, and development and utilization in China, serving as a comprehensive and standardized resource protection document for introducing Chinese poultry breed resources. Most of the photos in this atlas were newly taken during the compilation process, with many breed photos being published publicly for the first time. The data in the book is also the latest available from 2002, fully reflecting the current status of poultry breed resource conservation in China.
