New Century Graduate English (Upper)

Features: Most of the texts and reading materials in this textbook series are selected from recent American English publications, covering various fields such as society, culture, science and technology, and literature. The texts and reading materials are relatively long because we believe that English learning follows the principle of transformation from quantitative change to qualitative change. The vocabulary section of this textbook still uses the International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA) instead of American English phonetic symbols, mainly considering the long-term usage of Chinese students. The exercises in this textbook are designed based on this guiding principle, especially discussion questions and writing exercises that express the main ideas. Translation from Chinese to English is necessary and serves as an important indicator of English proficiency; however, translation from English to Chinese is not necessary. Nevertheless, considering the current level and habits of the students, we still include it in the exercises. Additionally, to highlight English writing practice, an introduction to writing basics is included at the end of each lesson.
