Features: Contact lenses have been rapidly adopted in China since the late 1980s. During this period, we have experienced both the successes and concerns brought by contact lenses alongside professionals and (a wide range of contact lens wearers) from both domestic and international backgrounds. We have come to deeply realize that there is still a considerable gap between China and industrialized countries in fully leveraging the advantages of this ophthalmic technology. The quality of professionals varies, especially in grassroots fitting units where personnel often lack adequate education and training. Many non-standardized practices exist in the fitting and usage procedures, and the awareness and methods of medical management are relatively low. As a result, there are significant risks in promoting new technologies. This book introduces some contact lens-related issues that we have gradually come to understand through extensive domestic and international exchanges and practices, as well as the experiences and insights we have accumulated in our work. We hope it can serve as a genuine guide and reference in ophthalmic education and clinical fitting. Additionally, we hope that (patients with refractive errors) will, through reading this book, further increase their interest and understanding of contact lenses, enhance their awareness of contact lens eye care, and more actively cooperate with physicians to protect their eyes.
