Features: Orthodontics is a relatively new discipline in the field of medicine, which has developed rapidly in recent years. New technologies, new methods, new ideas, and new concepts have continuously emerged, and the number of dedicated and practicing orthodontists has been steadily increasing. Although several orthodontic textbooks have been published in recent years, they still fail to meet the practical needs. Therefore, this book, Orthodontic Treatment, was compiled and edited. The Stomatological College of the Fourth Military Medical University in Xi'an was established by the late nationally renowned orthodontist Professor Chen Hua single-handedly; he devoted his entire life to the establishment and development of this discipline. This monumental work, compiled and published by his disciples, including Professor Lin Zhu and 13 other colleagues, serves as a heartfelt tribute and a lasting to Professor Chen Hua.
The authors of this book, combining their respective professional expertise and clinical experience, have referred to the latest literature and research in modern orthodontics to provide a comprehensive and systematic introduction to the new technologies, theories, and methods in contemporary orthodontics. The book focuses on fixed appliance orthodontic techniques and the principles and operational methods for treating various malocclusions. The book is divided into five parts—Basic Principles, Diagnosis, Technology, Treatment, and Appendices—with a total of 42 chapters, amounting to 1.1 million words.
For the first time, this book dedicates separate chapters to the subjects of orthodontic technology and orthodontic nursing, offering novel and practical content, which is one of its key features. Notably, the book is grounded in clinical practice, with many chapters discussing various skills and treatment methods for malocclusion correction. It also includes 88 color illustrations and 977 line drawings, making it highly valuable for clinical practitioners as a reference and guide. The book reflects, to some extent, the medical characteristics and technical standards of the Stomatological College of the Fourth Military Medical University in orthodontics.
To facilitate readers, the book also includes a list of reference books and literature, as well as an English-Chinese glossary of orthodontic terms. The content is rich, systematic, up-to-date, and well-illustrated, making it highly readable and practical. It is suitable for orthodontic clinicians, graduate students, interns, and undergraduate students as a reference. For medical professionals aspiring to specialize in orthodontics, this book serves as a comprehensive and systematic textbook for beginners. It is particularly suitable for medical workers who wish to pursue further studies in orthodontics after completing their undergraduate education.
