Features: One of the key techniques taught in "The New Jieziyuan Painting Manual" is the use of stylized methods. Whether it's in opera, dance, or painting, the conventions of each art form originate from life. They are specific methods of generalization derived from life phenomena transformed into artistic styles. Examples such as the eighteen brush strokes for depicting figures, the cun (textured) and diǎn (dotting) techniques for trees and rocks, the jiè (perspective) drawing method for buildings, and the gōu (outlining) and xiàngbèi (back-facing) techniques for flowers and birds are all accumulations of techniques developed by predecessors in observing and reproducing life. Creative painters excel at absorbing the achievements of those who came before them. The approach of starting everything from oneself, from a "zero," and disregarding the creations of predecessors is not a true understanding of creativity, nor does it respect the aesthetic psychology of the audience. Truly creative painters respect tradition yet are not bound by it, understand the aesthetic habits of the public, and are aware that these habits are an evolving process.
