Features: To meet the learning needs of students of French, we have compiled "999 French Conversations" based on our long-term teaching experience, as well as our experiences of studying, working, and living abroad, and by referencing the latest relevant French materials. This book is designed for beginners with some prior knowledge, including common and frequently used short phrases for various scenarios such as daily life, study, work, travel, and business. The language is natural and practical, with clear contexts and distinct registers, making it easy to learn and apply, allowing readers to generalize from examples. "999 French Conversations" is an encyclopedic basic language toolbook, practical and easy to remember, suitable for urgent learning and immediate use. The book is divided into seven chapters: Daily Life, Social Interaction, Expressing Intentions, Expressing Emotions, Festivals and Life Events, Studying and Living in France, and Traveling, Eating, Staying, and Sightseeing in France.
Appendix 1: "Idioms and Proverbs" primarily selects the most commonly used French idioms and proverbs, with a few Chinese ones, all sourced from French dictionaries and French-language works. These idioms and proverbs mostly fall into the category of spoken language and are rich in knowledge, interest, and practicality. Using an idiom or proverb appropriately in the right context can instantly create a closer connection with the speaker, making communication concise and expressive.
Appendix 2: "The Characteristics and Charm of French and Other Topics" introduces the features and charm of the French language, helping readers understand its origins, evolution, historical status, current situation, and what Chinese learners should pay attention to. This aids beginners in clarifying their learning methods, enabling them to learn quickly and effectively, thereby enhancing their motivation to master French.
Appendix 3: "List of 22 French Economic Regions (or called Departments) and the Codes of Provinces in Each Region, as well as Postal Codes and Phone Codes for All French Departments" are included.
Appendix 4: "Practical Addresses, Phone Numbers, and Websites" provide convenience for those planning to study, work, or travel in France.
The short phrases collected in this book for various scenarios are composed of simple and clear dialogues and standalone sentence structures. To help readers understand and use them correctly, we have provided concise and necessary notes on common usage in French spoken language, difficulties and features in certain sentences, and different registers.
"999 French Conversations" is accompanied by recordings narrated by French experts, making it convenient for self-study and also serving as a reference for oral language teaching.
