Features: The Capital University of Economics and Business Press adheres to its publishing philosophy of serving higher education teaching and research. It primarily publishes economic textbooks and teaching reference books, while also publishing theoretical, political, legal, and other social science books, academic monographs, reference books, series, and collections of essays. It selectively translates and publishes foreign works of reference value in economics, culture, science, and related fields. The authors of this book are all teachers with years of experience in writing instruction, who are well-versed in writing theory and have accumulated rich teaching experience. They have a deep understanding of the key and challenging issues in applied writing instruction. The feedback from students in interactive teaching has also provided us with many valuable insights. We have incorporated these experiences and insights into the textbook, hoping to enhance its relevance and practicality. Applied writing is an active practice guided by theory, so linking theory with practice is a fundamental principle that we adhere to in both textbook writing and teaching. Applied writing instruction should neither overlook theory in favor of pure skill training, nor detach itself from reality to engage in abstract discussions. Instead, it should integrate theory and practice. The first two chapters of this book introduce the basic theory of applied writing, aiming to directly or indirectly guide writing practice. The following six chapters cover the writing of different genres, introducing genre-specific knowledge while providing examples and analysis to offer writing references and guidance. The ultimate goal of writing instruction is to gradually transform knowledge into skills, with "writing" being the focal point. Therefore, practical writing exercises are an indispensable and highly effective component of the learning process. This book includes thought-provoking exercises at the end of each chapter. The thought questions highlight the key knowledge points of the chapter, while the practice questions either require analyzing and revising examples or writing within given scopes.
