Features: Since the late 1980s of the last century, with the steady improvement of people's material living standards, amateur music grading examination activities (hereinafter referred to as "music grading") have been flourishing in China. Their extensive coverage, diverse categories, and large number of participants have far exceeded what relevant individuals initially anticipated. Children as young as three or four learning to play musical instruments, with adults leading groups of them to participate in grading exams, have become a unique and vibrant sight in urban life. These phenomena fully reflect people's demand and yearning for an artistic life and demonstrate that the concept of comprehensive quality education, including aesthetic education, is deeply rooted in society. This undoubtedly holds great practical significance for social progress, educational development, and even the improvement of national quality, exerting profound influence.
Music grading originated in the UK, initially established by the British Royal Academy of Music as an extracurricular music grading system primarily focused on instrumental music. Starting in the 1980s, as a wave of interest in learning musical instruments swept among Chinese youth, this grading system began to attract attention from the Chinese music industry. In 1988, the Shanghai Music pioneered the establishment of amateur piano grading exams in China. Subsequently, the scope of grading expanded gradually, with the approval of grading syllabi, classification standards, and the compilation of examination pieces for each category becoming increasingly standardized year by year. A scientific and rigorous system and operational mechanism were also formed in all aspects of registration, examiners, and grading, ensuring and promoting the smooth progress of grading activities. Therefore, the publication of the "Shanghai Music Music Grading Series" can be seen as an inevitable outcome of the Shanghai Music's fifteen years of experience in music grading, leading to further refinement of the work.

This series of books not only considers the progressive selection of materials for each category and level, emphasizing scientific and systematic principles, but also includes pieces that can be used by young people for regular practice, performance, and recreation. I firmly believe it will be well-received and loved by a broad range of examinees and parents.
