At the beginning of the new century, the editing and publication of Masterpieces of Chinese Historiography in the 20th Century is a compilation and summary of the masterpieces of a century of historiography, a respect for their achievements in historiography and their status in the history of historiography, and also a provision for later generations to study and research the excellent heritage of 20th-century Chinese historiography. Collected Works of Guantang (Guantang Jilin) is a self-selected collection of works by Mr. Wang Guowei of Haining (1877-1927), reflecting his outstanding achievements in various academic fields and widely recognized as an immortal work in the history of Chinese scholarship. Collected Works of Guantang covers a very broad range of disciplines. Its Arts and Letters section follows the Six Arts category set forth in the Bibliography of the Han Dynasty (Han Shu·Yiwenzhi), referring to Confucian classics, including the Book of Documents, the Book of Songs, the Book of Rites, the Book of Music, the Spring and Autumn Annals, the Analects, and the Erya. The study of the small script (Xiaoxue) is further divided into textual analysis (Wenzzi) and phonology (Yunyun).
