The book "Explorations in Chinese History" included in this series by Hebei Education Press was selected by him personally from a large number of his past papers on Chinese history, comprising 28 essays. These include 20 on ancient Chinese history, five on modern Chinese history, and three on the history of Sino-Western relations. It can be said that every essay is a scholarly gem. He personally chose the title for the book and wrote a brief preface for it himself while on his deathbed. "Explorations in Chinese History" was first published by Zhonghua Book Company in April 1981 in traditional Chinese characters. The edition being published now is its simplified character version.
