Features: To better utilize compounds for human service, there is an urgent need for a comprehensive, rich, concise, and practical dictionary of compounds. Therefore, we have organized scholars to compile this dictionary. It includes two parts: inorganic compounds and organic compounds. The inorganic compounds section contains 3,929 entries, primarily including the names of 109 elements and general, common, and important inorganic compounds. It also references compounds listed in the latest physical chemistry handbooks and physical chemical data tables of inorganic compounds. Due to space limitations, some new compounds such as special coordination compounds, cluster compounds, and layered compounds are not included. The organic compounds section contains 2,652 entries, primarily including general organic reagents as well as industrial raw materials, dyes, additives, and pesticides. Each entry generally includes the foreign name, chemical formula, molecular weight, physical properties, chemical properties, toxicity, occurrence, preparation methods, and uses. Many common organic reagents are raw materials for organic synthesis, and their properties, especially chemical properties, are described in detail because chemical properties involve the products obtained from their reactions with other reagents. Industrial raw materials emphasize their sources and uses. Dyes, additives, drugs, and pesticides are products of fine organic synthesis, and the preparation methods and chemical properties of these entries are complex. This dictionary generally does not provide detailed descriptions, focusing instead on their uses. For easy reference, an English-Chinese index of entries is appended at the end of the book.
