Features: Classical Formulas and Arguments of Famous Physicians was compiled by the Qing Dynasty physician Luo Mei. Luo Mei, styled Tansheng and styled Dongyi, was a native of Xin'an (now Huizhou, Anhui). He once resided in Yushan (now Changshu, Jiangsu) and was a renowned scholar during the Kangxi era, concurrently practicing medicine. He thoroughly studied classical medical texts such as the Neijing (Yellow Emperor's Inner Canon), Nanjing (Essentials of Medicine), Shanghan Lun (On Cold Damage), and Jin Gui Yao Lue (Essential Prescriptions from the Golden Cabinet). He explored the theories of physicians from the Song, Jin, Yuan, and Ming dynasties, authoring works such as Classical Formulas and Arguments of Famous Physicians, Compendium of Famous Physicians, and Extensive Interpretations of the Neijing. This book is a compilation of Luo Mei's selection of commonly used classical formulas and their accompanying arguments. It consists of four volumes, containing over 160 formulas and more than 180 arguments. The formulas are organized according to the pairings in the Shanghan Lun, comparing the similarities and differences of various formulas, and detailing the treatment indications for each. The arguments are concise, profound, and insightful, offering clarifications and revelations, filled with profound meanings. They truly uncover what was previously unexplored and serve as a guide for future generations, thus having a significant influence on later scholars and holding great reference value. For this edition, the earliest available version of the book, the Guaihutang edition from the 14th year of the Kangxi era (1675), was used as the base text. The Neijing, Nanjing, Shanghan Lun, Jin Gui Yao Lue, and other referenced works were used for collation. The entire book underwent meticulous proofreading and concise annotations to meet the needs of a broad readership.
