Features: Medical Insights was written by Cheng Guoping, a renowned physician from the Qing Dynasty. Cheng Guoping, styled Zhongling, was from Tiandu (now Shixian County, Anhui). He began studying medicine in his youth, drawing upon diverse medical knowledge and gaining a prominent reputation. After accumulating thirty years of clinical experience, he compiled this book. The work is divided into five volumes, with an additional volume titled Ten Methods of External Surgery appended at the end. The book explicitly proposes the theory of the Eight Principles of Syndrome Differentiation and the Eight Methods of Treatment, providing comprehensive discussions on injuries and diseases of the internal, external, gynecological, and five-conduit systems. His arguments are thorough and insightful, the language concise and accessible, and the treatment methods practical. As a result, since the Qing Dynasty, it has become a must-read for beginners in traditional Chinese medicine. The book was first published in the 10th year of the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty (1732), and subsequent editions have been printed, resulting in numerous versions. This edition is based on the earliest extant printing, with careful collation and correction referencing various later editions to meet the needs of a broad readership.
