Features: The World New English-Chinese Medical Dictionary is based on the new edition of Stedman's Medical Dictionary, and references include Stedman's Medical Dictionary, Dorland's Pocket Medical Dictionary, Churchill Livingstone Medical Dictionary, Henderson's Biographical Dictionary, and Scott's Concise Dictionary of Biology. Since its publication in 1905, Dorland's English-Chinese Medical Dictionary has been recognized as an authoritative guide to medical terminology in the 20th century. In today's era, with the rapid advancement of science and technology, knowledge is exploding in growth and dissemination, and interdisciplinary integration and penetration are becoming increasingly close. Every new achievement, discovery, and product gives rise to a large number of new terms and expressions. Therefore, during the compilation of the World New English-Chinese Medical Dictionary, we have particularly emphasized the breadth and novelty of word selection, paying close attention to the inclusion of new terms in all medical disciplines and related fields. The dictionary contains nearly 100,000 entries covering all branches of medicine and related natural and social sciences. To ensure the scientific accuracy of the word selection, we have indicated the reviewing organizations for anatomical terms, drug names, enzyme names, and other terms reviewed by relevant international academic organizations. For most entries, we have provided etymological information, facilitating the study of the origins and meanings of words, as well as offering more insights into the life stories and achievements of distinguished medical scientists. At the end of the dictionary, we have compiled seven appendices: common medical abbreviations, anatomical terms (including: arteries, bones, muscles, nerves, and veins), a Celsius-Fahrenheit temperature conversion table, metric multiples and submultiples, a weight and measurement table, an approximate conversion table between metric and apothecaries' weights, and laboratory test reference values. These appendices not only expand the information content of the World New English-Chinese Medical Dictionary but also provide convenience for readers in reading and referencing. The World New English-Chinese Medical Dictionary is the result of the collaborative efforts and hard work of many authors. All contributors hope it will become an authoritative reference for medical workers, researchers, and students in medical schools when reading English publications and learning medical English. During the compilation of the World New English-Chinese Medical Dictionary, our cooperation with Manager Zhang Shucai of Xi'an World Book Publishing Company was very pleasant and successful. He provided strong support and guidance for our work, and we express our gratitude here.
