Features: In 2002, we compiled and published the book "PowerBuilder8.0 From Basics to Applications," which was well-received by many readers. Fortunately, Mr. Cao Lin from the Singapore branch of Sybase, the developer of PowerBuilder software, also noticed this book and gave it high praise. Before the release of PowerBuilder9.0, Mr. Cao proactively sent us the PowerBuilder9.0 evaluation version CD-ROM and introduced other relevant materials, hoping that we would continue to write a book to introduce PowerBuilder9.0. With years of engineering experience in applying PowerBuilder, we also felt that PowerBuilder is a database development tool that keeps pace with the times. The newly released PowerBuilder9.0 version provides convenient support for the main technologies in current software development: JSP, WebService, XML, C++ classes, and third-party application services (EJB, IBM WebSphere), etc. Therefore, we felt it was meaningful to compile a book on PowerBuilder9.0 programming techniques and development examples. This motivation was supported by Ms. Zhang Ruixi from Electronic Industry Press, which led to the book you see before you today.
This book is written based on the practical needs of applying PowerBuilder for software development, aiming to provide readers with a practical technical reference. The book consists of 16 chapters. Chapters 1 to 8 focus on introducing the basics of PowerBuilder9.0, while Chapters 9 to 12 focus on introducing the new technologies of PowerBuilder9.0. Chapters 13 to 16 introduce four application system examples developed using PowerBuilder9.0. The book comprehensively introduces the basic usage and new features of PowerBuilder9.0, with a focus on explaining the newly added web development functions in PowerBuilder9.0, including JSP site development and XML DataWindow.
