Features: Entering the 21st century, with the rapid development of computer technology, especially the widespread application and rapid popularization of computer and communication technologies in the past decade, have greatly promoted technological progress and development in various industries. Computers are gradually entering households, becoming indispensable tools for work, study, life, and entertainment. The rapid global adoption of computers has profoundly changed the ways people work, study, live, and entertain. The abundant information resources on the Internet have become an invaluable asset for social development. Computers are no longer just high-tech products but have acquired a cultural connotation, becoming an important factor driving social progress. Higher education institutions are tasked with cultivating high-level talents for society. Cultivating high-quality, interdisciplinary, and versatile talents has become a consensus in the education sector, with the development of computer literacy being a crucial component. To meet the challenges and demands of the rapidly evolving computer industry, we have organized the writing of the "Fundamentals of Information Technology Learning Guide." This textbook is entirely written by the lead instructors teaching the course, including three parts: hands-on operation experiments, periodic tests, and comprehensive tests. Among them, the hands-on operation experiments cover 6 chapters: Chinese Windows 98, Word 2000, Excel 2000, PowerPoint 2000, FrontPage 2000, and Internet operation. During the writing process, we strive for clarity, emphasis on key points, and accessibility, while also highlighting the application of key and difficult concepts. For the test section, we have carefully compiled 18 sets of test questions for self-assessment after completing each chapter. The simulated tests include multiple-choice questions and comprehensive operation tests, with standard answers provided for the multiple-choice questions. This content not only helps readers integrate basic concepts and knowledge points, reinforce basic operations, and achieve targeted and efficient learning but also assists them in becoming proficient and confident in future information technology applications. This textbook can serve as a teaching material for information technology foundation courses in higher education institutions, as well as for various training programs and self-study purposes. It is a supplementary textbook for the "Fundamentals of Information Technology." The main content includes hands-on operation experiments, periodic tests, and comprehensive tests. The hands-on operation experiments cover Chinese Windows 98, word processing software Word 2000, spreadsheet software Excel 2000, presentation software PowerPoint 2000, Internet applications, and web page creation FrontPage 2000, totaling 6 chapters and 23 experiments.
