Features: The Strategic Value Analysis Method originated from Value Engineering and Value Analysis. It was developed by two parties and, after 1960, the Japanese adopted this method, evolving it into a technique encompassing various disciplines. During this period, the performance of Japanese companies significantly improved, with many small Japanese firms growing into internationally renowned large corporations. While the development of Japanese companies was influenced by background factors such as scarce natural resources and currency appreciation, Strategic Value Analysis played a crucial role in this process. Strategic Value Analysis not only provides a structured methodology but also cultivates engineers to form necessary realities and take action. It started by focusing on products and customers and later expanded to most critical organizational and decision-making areas within the enterprise. Strategic Value Analysis combines personnel information and clear objectives through systematic procedures, aiming to bring innovative, constructive, and rewarding changes. This book also includes numerous case studies. The author, Takefusa Takekawa, is a professor in the Department of Management Accounting at Yokohama National University in Japan and a visiting professor at the University of Edinburgh. John Insley is a retired honorary professor of Management Accounting at the University of Dundee. Fabrizio Mazzola is a professor of Management Accounting at the University of Edinburgh. Since the late 1980s, these three professors have jointly dedicated themselves to research on Strategic Value Analysis.
