Aesthetic Implications

Features: This book focuses on discussing 15 aspects of issues, all of which are fundamental problems in the field of aesthetics. They have been discussed to varying degrees and in different forms in previous aesthetics textbooks. But to be frank, the discussions in previous aesthetics textbooks were neither focused nor in-depth. Because they were never written with problems in mind, and they never encountered any real problems. Textbooks written in this problem-free manner naturally cannot solve problems, especially not the aesthetic confusions of modern people. The discussion around specific problems will reveal knowledge from various aspects of the basic theories, historical origins, and development prospects of the discipline of aesthetics. The purpose is to enable readers to mobilize their knowledge, think actively, and solve their own aesthetic confusions. Aesthetics, if it is just a pile of rigid knowledge and cannot solve specific problems, then it violates its very nature. Because if strict reliability of knowledge is the only measure, aesthetics can never compete with logic. This point was made very clear by the founder of aesthetics, Baumgarten, long ago. This is determined by the object of study in aesthetics. The object of aesthetic study is "chaotic clarity of understanding" (i.e., perceptual understanding), which can never achieve the clarity of "clear clarity of understanding" (i.e., rational understanding) studied by logic. In the realm of perceptual understanding, artistic activity, and aesthetic experience, there are only constantly emerging problems, not unchanging laws. Therefore, aesthetics, which takes art and aesthetics as its object of study, is not a knowledge system based on laws, but the wisdom faced with specific problems, a temporary "measure."
