Features: Lì Yùn (Rhythm of Clerical Script) is a Han clerical script dictionary compiled by Liu Qiu during the Song Dynasty. The book comprises ten volumes, with a total of 3,275 characters arranged according to rhyme, using regular script as the character headers. Below each regular script header, it collects clerical script examples from temple steles, tomb inscriptions, fragments of ancient texts, lanterns, gongs, basins, mirrors, and other artifacts from the Han Dynasty and later periods, with their sources clearly annotated. A preface includes a volume of stele bibliographies, listing 261 steles cited in the book, most of which are now lost. At the end of the book, there are appendices on the textual research of Wang Fangna’s stele bibliographies and the textual research of Lì Yùn. Lì Yùn is an important resource for studying the evolution of Chinese characters, as well as a valuable reference for research in linguistics, history, epigraphy, calligraphy, and seal carving.
