Features: As peers, listening to Tao Hong share her growth and inner world made me feel as if I had relived a part of it myself—this feeling lingered long after. When the first proofread version of the manuscript was completed, there was some good news about Tao Hong: she won the Best Actress Award at the 9th Shanghai Film Festival for her role as Lai Shuangyang in the film Life Show. At the time, I wasn’t there in person, but from the media reports, I knew she cried. Later, I watched that emotional scene on TV, and Tao Hong looked stunning that night—her tears made her even more beautiful. Although I didn’t personally congratulate her afterward, I could imagine her joy. For Lai Shuangyang, she had poured so much into the role; for this day, she had waited far too long. Friends jokingly said that Tao Hong’s award made the book more valuable. While it was just a playful remark, it couldn’t be denied that the award would mark a new beginning for Tao Hong’s career.
