Features: Ci Lu was completed in the 34th year of the Guangxu reign (1908), which was precisely the period when Wang Guowei was engaged in the study of Ci poetry. His other works such as Collected Ci Poems of Twenty-one Masters from the Tang and Five Dynasties and On Poetic Language were also completed around the same time. This Ci Lu is highly beneficial for studying Wang Guowei and his Ci studies. Wang Guowei was an outstanding scholar of modern China. His achievements in literature, aesthetics, history, and ancient Chinese studies were truly remarkable. Wang Guowei spent his tragic life in misery and frustration. Academia could not liberate him, and his poet's soul eventually led him to lose faith in the world he lived in.
Ci poems of Ming and Qing dynasty scholars are often scattered in various collections, with few comprehensive compilations and even rarer printed editions. When a single scholar's Ci poems are encountered, one feels ashamed of their narrowness, and when multiple scholars' works are recorded, even the smallest details are meticulously noted. Therefore, the scope is limited to the Yuan dynasty. For collected works of Ci poems, those with printed editions are listed as such, while those without are listed as handwritten copies. Among printed editions, those published separately are listed as single-volume works, while those not published separately are listed as complete collections. There are also cases where rare printed editions are listed as handwritten copies of a certain scholar, or when single-volume works are insufficient and listed as complete collections, all in pursuit of appropriateness.
