The highest ground temperature reached 60 degrees Celsius, and the highest air temperature reached 53 degrees Celsius. The total journey covered 4,000 kilometers. The explorers ranged in age from over 60 to just 12, setting a record for traversing the Lop Nur in extreme heat. Among the 15 team members were journalists, geological engineers, MBA students, secondary school teachers, travel agency guides, oil field workers, demobilized military personnel, university students from a sports academy, and elementary school students.
