It details the diagnosis, treatment, and medical advice for conditions such as coma, fever, acute poisoning, syncope, shock, sudden death, convulsions, massive hemoptysis, abdominal pain, dizziness, vomiting, headache, chest pain, acute respiratory distress, hematuria, and cardiac arrest. Additionally, it covers the application of network technology in emergency medicine, emergency medical care and related laws and regulations. This book is primarily suitable for primary healthcare units, outpatient and emergency department physicians in hospitals, and individual practitioners.
Emergency medicine has evolved into an independent and comprehensive emerging discipline in response to the demands of medical and social development. The deepening and development of emergency theory, the advancement of emergency technology and equipment, and the continuous improvement of pre-hospital and post-hospital emergency systems have significantly increased the cure rate for critical emergencies, reduced mortality and disability rates, and secured time and opportunities for subsequent treatment. However, in clinical practice, not only emergency departments or ICUs treat emergency patients. In non-emergency departments, it is common for patients to transition from "non-emergency" to "emergency" due to the progression of their condition or treatment reasons. Therefore, emergency medicine is not only the specialty of emergency physicians but also a skill that non-emergency physicians should possess.
In light of this, we have organized experts working at the forefront of clinical practice and experienced medical personnel in emergency care to compile this "Emergency Handbook." The purpose is to help non-emergency medical staff master basic emergency knowledge, improve their diagnostic and treatment skills for emergencies, and provide emergency physicians with a practical reference tool. In line with this vision, the book is designed to be practical, innovative, concise, and to the point, making it easy for readers to learn and reference when urgent care is needed.
The book is divided into twelve chapters. The first ten chapters introduce the etiology, diagnostic and differential diagnostic key points, auxiliary examinations, treatment hints, and emergency reference medical advice for common critical emergencies in various specialties. The reference medical advice is suitable for quick, bundled use in general situations. The auxiliary examinations list various typically required tests to avoid omissions that could lead to work chaos and affect the diagnostic process. In the section on infectious emergencies, it includes the newly emerging human infectious disease "SARS," with content derived from the clinical experience of the Beijing Xiaoshan Hospital, established by the People's Liberation Army during the outbreak of the disease.
Chapter eleven, "The Application of Network Technology in Emergency Medicine," introduces readers to the currently advanced PACS, anticipating that this technology will soon become widespread in comprehensive hospitals. Chapter twelve covers emergency medical care and related laws and regulations, using case studies to explain common causes of medical disputes and strategies to avoid them. It also reminds medical personnel to adhere to operational protocols, enhance legal awareness, and learn to protect their legitimate rights and actions through legal means.
This book is both a summary of our practical experience and incorporates new technologies, perspectives, and emergency care practices in recent years in emergency medicine. With its innovative format, practical content, and strong readability, it is suitable for medical personnel in all clinical departments.
