Features: Pan Yuliang's life is a legend. Pan Yuliang, a famous painter. Born in Yangzhou, Jiangsu, she lost both parents at a young age and was sold to a brothel in Wuhu, Anhui at the age of 14. Due to her stubborn personality and refusal to entertain clients, she frequently clashed with the brothel mistress and attempted suicide several times. In 1916, Pan Zhanhua, a member of the Tongmenghui, redeemed Pan Yuliang from the brothel with a large sum of money. Pan Yuliang had been learning embroidery since childhood and later studied Western painting at the Shanghai Art College, studying under masters such as Liu Haisu and Zhu Qizhan. After 1921, Pan Yuliang went to France and Italy for studies, attending the école des Beaux-Arts in Paris and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Roma, where she studied alongside Xu Beihong. In 1928, Pan Yuliang returned to China and served as the director and instructor of the Painting Research Institute at the Shanghai Art College, becoming one of the first female Western painting professors in modern China. In 1937, Pan Yuliang went to France again and lived in Paris for the next few decades. With extraordinary willpower, Pan Yuliang fought against fate throughout her life and ultimately became a renowned painter in modern Chinese history.
