Based on the previous edition, this textbook strengthens the elaboration of the comprehensive evaluation system for important identification methods, adds new methods, technologies, knowledge, and concepts such as biological identification, fingerprint, and the establishment of quality standards for new traditional Chinese medicine drugs. It highlights the content and methodology of traditional Chinese medicine quality evaluation. This textbook is intended for undergraduate students majoring in traditional Chinese medicine, as well as for students in pharmacy and pharmaceutical disciplines. It can also serve as a reference book for traditional Chinese medicine practitioners. The textbook includes 293 basic traditional Chinese medicines, including some Mongolian, Tibetan, Uyghur, and Dai ethnic medicines, with a focus on 100 key varieties. For convenience of learning, there is a distinction in format between the key and non-key traditional Chinese medicines. In the selection of single-herb varieties, attention has been paid to the relevance between identification methods and the origin, chemical components, and medicinal parts of the herbs. It has strong representativeness, applicability, and guidance.
