Features: This book is suitable for undergraduate students of medical and health professions in higher medical colleges, as well as for reference by students from other disciplines and clinical medical workers. The textbook was compiled under the guidance of the Higher Education Department of the Ministry of Education and the National Higher Education Teaching Research Center, in line with the spirit of the "New Century Higher Education Reform Project" and the "Five-Year Plan for College Textbook Construction" of the Ministry of Education. The content is organized around the functional groups of organic compounds, with fundamental knowledge, basic theories, and basic concepts presented in the early chapters. The later chapters focus on introducing biomacromolecules such as proteins, nucleic acids, carbohydrates, lipids, terpenes, and steroids. Given the increasing application of polymer materials in medicine, a dedicated chapter on medical polymers has been included. Additionally, the structure of phosphorus-containing organic compounds and the principles of organophosphorus pesticide poisoning are introduced appropriately to enhance students' environmental awareness. The book selects key content, appropriately raises the starting point, introduces some cutting-edge knowledge and hot topics in the discipline to broaden students' knowledge base, while striving to highlight key points, disperse difficulties, and emphasize connections between chemical problems in life sciences. Thought-provoking questions are listed in the middle of each chapter, and exercises are provided at the end of each chapter for students to understand, analyze, and review.
