February 5, Thursday: Arrived in Beijing. 2 PM. Visited my aunt. Ate dinner at Six Elegant Gardens. Visited Yuan (not met). In the evening, visited Yuan again, met two brothers, talked for a long time, learned about Tsinghua in detail.
February 6, Friday: Morning, went to Tsinghua, met Li Zhonghua. The living quarters were unsuitable, undecided. Had lunch at Gong Hall, accompanied by Li, Wang, Cai, and Zhuang. After lunch, guided by Wang, visited the president at his private residence, and went together to meet P.C. (business not decided). Evening, met Wei. Took a bath. Ate dinner at Qian Chongshu’s home. Stayed overnight in Gong Hall with Liu Tingkian.
February 7, Saturday: Morning, entered the city, visited H.H. at his home (not met). Went to the New Moon Society, visited for the second time, and met Hu Shi and Xu Zhimo. Had lunch there. In the afternoon, H.H. came, and we went to the lantern market (Langfang Toutiao) to buy lanterns (5 yuan), delivering them to the New Moon Society (lantern festival). We also visited the Baodian market to see various goods. Evening, went to the New Moon Society again. Ate dinner at my aunt’s home.
February 8, Sunday: Morning, visited Yang Zonghan at his home, had lunch there, talked for a long time (proposing the name for the general affairs director). In the afternoon at 4 PM, visited Zhai Guojian and Liu Zhuang (both not met). Stayed overnight at my aunt’s home.
February 9, Monday: Morning, went to Tsinghua again. Met Cao, proposed two conditions: (1) The name should be Director of Preparation. (2) Full authority to handle matters of this department and bear sole responsibility. Otherwise, I would return to Feng. Cao agreed. Afternoon, met Zhang, informed him. Zhang said it was very appropriate. Decided on the translation class. Afternoon, still went home, stayed overnight at my aunt’s home.
February 10, Tuesday: Morning, entered the school, stayed in the West Hall. Appointed as a member of the University Preparation Committee (Council for University Development).
