Features: Guangzhou is changing rapidly with each passing day, whether in the streetscape or in the daily life and social aspects, it has become vastly different from what it was a century or even half a century ago. The ancients said, "The past cannot be chased." While the past is indeed gone forever, everything that has passed has left an indelible mark through the words and images of that time, quietly hidden in the rows upon rows of yellowed old books and periodicals. In recent years, while carrying out the development of local literature and reader consultation work, we have gradually compiled a collection of photographs of old Guangzhou. Now, we have selected a portion of these and organized them into over one hundred and thirty topics, with brief annotations, in hopes of gradually outlining the general appearance of old Guangzhou. A quick glance may not reveal the full picture, and seeking the past is not just for nostalgia. In the long corridor of time, we gain a unique perspective, a reference point. Guangzhou in Search of the Past is an album that reflects the urban construction, scenic spots, economy, education, society, and folk customs of old Guangzhou, featuring 133 sets and nearly 500 images. Through this combination of text and images, we hope to allow readers to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation of Guangzhou's history and culture in a relaxed and enjoyable way.
