Publish Date: 2004-05-01
Features: To reflect the significant changes in criminal procedure policies, theories, structures, procedures, and systems in representative countries internationally in recent years, the new textbook strives to incorporate new laws and materials, reflect new developments, strengthen and enrich the theoretical sections, and expand its coverage. In the general part of the new textbook, the concepts and purposes of criminal procedure law have been rewritten; six new principles of criminal procedure and evidence have been added, and three existing ones have been revised; three new systems of criminal procedure have been added, while the rest have been entirely rewritten. Additionally, an overview of the general trends in the development and changes of criminal procedure in representative countries and an overview of the basic types of foreign criminal justice systems have been included.
In the specific part, the original book only covered six countries: the former Soviet Union, the UK, the US, France, Germany, and Japan. The new book has been expanded to include 12 countries. The five countries of the UK, the US, France, Germany, and Japan have been entirely rewritten, while the newly added countries are Russia, Italy, Belgium, Portugal, India, Kenya, and Malaysia. The inclusion of Malaysia's criminal procedure law aims to take a step toward filling the gap in the study and research of Islamic criminal justice systems and criminal procedure law.
