Features: A History of Foreign Education is a textbook compiled for our Education Department. In 1979, the entire group of the Foreign Education History section of our department's Education History Teaching and Research Office printed A History of Foreign Education (Draft) as a self-used textbook for our university. Based on years of teaching practice, we summarized the book and studied and absorbed new achievements in scientific research of this discipline, as well as valuable suggestions from professional workers and teachers and students across the country. On this basis, we recompiled this book and officially published it. The book is divided into four parts and published in two volumes. The first volume includes seven chapters: Part I (Ancient and Medieval Education) and Part II (Education in the Period of Free Capitalism). The second volume includes five chapters: Part III (Education of the Bourgeoisie in the Imperialist Period) and Part IV (Development of Soviet Education). The chapter structure and basic content of the book were discussed and written by the authors collectively. In the writing of the second volume, some colleagues were unable to participate in the entire process due to various reasons. The division of labor for the chapters in the second volume is as follows: Section 3 of Chapter 8, Part 3 of Section 2 of Chapter 9, Sections 2, 3, and 4 of Chapter 11, and Sections , 2, 3, and 4 of Chapter 12 were written by Wang Tianyi; Sections , 2, and 4 of Chapter 8, Section 3 of Chapter 9, Part 4 of Section 2 of Chapter 9, Section of Chapter 11, and Section 5 of Chapter 12 were written by Xia Zhilian; Section 5 of Chapter 8, Part 2 of Section 2 of Chapter 9, and Chapter 10 were written by Zhu Meiyu. Due to the limitations of our resources and capabilities, errors and shortcomings in the book are inevitable. We sincerely hope readers will kindly point them out.
