Features: Due to severe soil erosion in China, the phenomenon of river and riverine disaster exacerbation caused by changes in sediment transport has become increasingly serious in recent years. Conducting research on the formation mechanisms, prediction, and prevention of water and sediment disasters is of great significance both theoretically and practically. Water and sediment disasters encompass rich connotations and extensions, involving interdisciplinary issues such as hydrology, hydrodynamics, river dynamics, geographical and geomorphology, and socio-economics. This book focuses on introducing the author's recent research achievements on the mechanisms and prevention of river water and sediment disasters, supported by major projects from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The book targets the phenomenon of "small floods causing big disasters" in recent years, taking river water and sediment disasters as the subject and focusing on river and riverine flood disasters caused by sediment erosion and deposition. It systematically introduces the mutual relationship between sediment movement and flood disasters in rivers and lakes. The main contents include: the formation mechanisms, simulation and prediction, and assessment and prevention of river water and sediment disasters. This book can serve as a reference for scientific and technical workers in disciplines such as hydrology, water resources engineering, geographical and geomorphology, and disaster science, as well as for faculty and students in higher education institutions.
