Features: Guangxi, abbreviated as "Gui," has Nanning as its capital. It covers an area of over 230,000 square kilometers and has a population of 44.89 million (2000 data). Located at the southwestern tip of China's coastal region, Guangxi faces Southeast Asia and is backed by the Greater Southwest of China, situated at the intersection of China's southeastern coastal area and the Greater Southwest. It serves as the most convenient maritime gateway from China to the sea.
Guangxi is situated in a low-latitude region, with the southern coast bordering the tropical ocean, the northern part bounded by the Nanling Mountains, and the western part extending into the Yunnan-Guizhou Plateau. The region is crisscrossed by rivers, resulting in a relatively complex geographical environment. Half of Guangxi falls under the Central Subtropical Climate, while the southern part is influenced by the South Subtropical Climate. Geographically, the northern and western parts of Guangxi exhibit typical mountainous climate characteristics, with a prominent "vertical climate" and diversified microclimatic ecological environments. The southern part, on the other hand, features a warm and humid marine climate.
Guangxi experiences short winters and long summers, with an average annual temperature ranging from 16°C to 23°C. In terms of temperature, the northern region has a summer lasting 4 to 5 months and a winter of about two months, while the southern region has summer from May to October and a winter of less than two months, with coastal areas virtually lacking winter. The region is rich in rainfall and heat resources, which occur during the same season. From April to September, 75% of the annual rainfall falls, coinciding with the hot season.
Guangxi is one of China's renowned karst bathing areas, with spectacular landscapes featuring towering peaks, clear waters, and stunning caves. Guilin, famous for its "scenery unparalleled under heaven," is one of China's four major tourist hotspots. The world-renowned Beihai Silver Beach, with its white sands, flat beaches, clean water, and gentle waves, forms a natural, excellent seaside bathing spot.
Guangxi is a region inhabited by ethnic minorities, with its rich cultural heritage attracting numerous domestic and international tourists. The mysterious and unique border town atmosphere, represented by cities like Pingxiang and Dongxing, adds to the region's charm. The autonomous region boasts over 400 scenic spots and attractions, forming five major tourism zones: Guilin, Nanning, Liuzhou, Southeastern Guangxi, and Coastal Guangxi.
Among the national-level scenic areas are Guilin's Li River, Guiping's Xishan Mountain, and Ningming's Huashan. National-level tourist resorts include Beihai Silver Beach.
