Features: "Start Your Business" (SYB) is a training program. It is designed for individuals who have ideas to start a business and are genuinely planning to do so. The program introduces participants to the various steps of starting a business and guides them in conducting feasibility studies for their entrepreneurial ventures. The goal of the "Start Your Business" training program is to enable individuals with entrepreneurial intentions to independently practice the steps of starting a business, complete their business plans, and receive follow-up support to help them establish sustainable micro-enterprises. The "Start Your Business" textbook includes a Business Awareness Training Manual, a Business Plan Training Manual, and a Business Plan Template. The Business Awareness Training Manual assesses whether participants are suitable for entrepreneurship and whether they have practical business ideas. The Business Plan Training Manual guides participants through the various stages and steps of starting a business, helping them evaluate the viability of their potential enterprise. The Business Plan Template is the final outcome of the training, where participants systematically fill in the exercises completed during the training to form their own business plan, which can then be used to take action and start their own business.
The "Start Your Business" textbook was introduced to China by the International Labour Organization (ILO) and the China Labour and Social Security Ministry through the ILO/PEP (Urban Employment Promotion Project) in collaboration with the ILO's "Start and Improve Your Business" (SIYB) program in Vietnam. It was developed based on the Vietnamese version of the SIYB textbook, maintaining the original framework while adapting necessary content and extensively refining the text. After pilot testing in cities participating in the PEP project and non-participating cities, it received positive feedback from both instructors and participants, proving that, like in other countries, it is indeed a training textbook tailored for micro-entrepreneurs. The introduction and development of the textbook were supported technically by the ILO's SIYB Vietnam project and financially by the Japanese government. In 2003, to further promote the development of entrepreneurship training nationwide, the Ministry of Labour and Social Security organized experts to revise the textbook in line with China's specific conditions, resulting in the publication of this book.
