Features: Guo Ruyu, styled Zhiguang, is also known as Zhiyu and Shushan. He is from Chengdu, Sichuan. He is a first-class national artist and currently serves as the Director of the Creative Research Institute of the Sichuan Poetry, Calligraphy, and Painting Academy. Additionally, he holds positions such as Vice President of the China Painting Committee of the Sichuan International Cultural Exchange Center, Vice President of the Chengdu Bird-and-Flower Painting Association, and President of the Chengdu Industrial Painting Institute.
Guo Ruyu graduated from Chengdu Art School in 1961. He is skilled in Chinese painting, particularly in bird-and-flower and figure painting, with both freehand and meticulous techniques. His meticulous paintings are especially outstanding, incorporating the techniques of freehand painting to create dynamic and natural brushwork, forming a unique style.
He has published albums such as "One Hundred Buddhist Figures," "Guo Ruyu's Industrial Bird-and-Flower and Figure Paintings," "Guo Zhiyu's Fan Painting Collection," and "Selected Industrial Bird-and-Flower Paintings of Guo Ruyu." His works have been featured in major domestic and international magazines, including "Art," "Chinese Calligraphy and Painting," "Eastern Art," "Asian Art" (USA), "Blomstrande" (Germany), and "China Dream" (UK).
His major solo exhibitions include: 1987 in the capital of Washington State, USA; 1988 in Seattle; 1990 in Marienburg, Germany; 1993, sponsored by the Ministry of Culture, in Austria and Belgium; 2001 in Paris, participating in the Louvre International Salon Invitation Exhibition and the "Paintings from the Homeland of the Giant Panda" exhibition in Brittany. His domestic solo exhibitions have been held in cities such as Chengdu and Guangzhou.
