"True Formulas of Cold Damage Rhyme": One of Chen's representative works. Six volumes. The author organizes the formulas of "Treatise on Cold Damage" according to the six channels, providing arguments for each channel and establishing formulas. The book lists 96 rhymes in 15 chapters, covering methods for the sun, sun rescue errors, changes, yangming, shaoyang, taiyin, jueyin, and post-recovery after yin-yang exchange.
"Changsha Formula Rhyme": Six volumes. Based on his deep study of "Treatise on Cold Damage," Chen expressed the main treatments, medications, dosages, and preparation methods of the 112 formulas in the treatise in the form of rhymes, making them concise and easy to memorize. Annotations are added after each formula for comprehensive evaluation to aid readers' understanding.
"Golden Cabinet Formula Rhyme": Six volumes. Includes 206 formulas from the "Golden Cabinet" with 166 rhymes. Each formula begins with the original text from "Essentials from the Golden Cabinet," followed by rhymes summarizing the formula names, treatments, medication dosages, and preparation methods, and concludes with explanations.
"Timely Formula Rhyme": Two volumes. Selects 108 commonly used formulas after the Tang and Song dynasties, categorized into 12 types based on their efficacy and properties: tonifying, heavy, light, dispersing, promoting, draining, slippery, astringent, dampening, drying, cold, and hot.
This book was compiled in the sixth year of the Jiaqing reign (1801). Multiple editions exist, and after the founding of New China, a photocopied combined edition with "Miraculous Uses of Timely Formulas" was published. The new annotated edition is based on the Jiaqing edition, with collation referencing the combined edition of "Timely Formula Rhyme · Miraculous Uses of Timely Formulas" published by the People's Health Publishing House in 1964 and other relevant works.
