Features: J. Concone was born in Dole in 1810 and died in Dole in 1861. He was the organist of the Royal Chapel in Dole and later moved to Paris, where he enjoyed the highest honor as a vocal teacher until 1848. After composing his only opera, L'Intermezzo di San Michele, he abandoned the idea of writing further operas. His melodic arias, romances, and short duets were perfectly suited to his talents, leading him to achieve widespread recognition. However, what made him most famous were his unparalleled Solfeggi, which he called lessons, exercises, or vocal warm-ups. These works should be attributed to his deep knowledge of the technique of Mélodie. His compositions remain highly valuable and outstanding vocal exercises to this day. To make this edition as perfect as possible, the author has employed various methods—appropriately adding expressive and phrasing marks, supplementing and refining, changing breath marks in some places, and meticulously revising the entire work overall.
