Features: "Japanese for Study Abroad: Intermediate Japanese" (Volume 1) is an intermediate Japanese textbook developed by the Japan Foundation Japanese Language Center after "Japanese for Study Abroad: Beginner Japanese." It is primarily aimed at students of Japanese outside of Japan and general adult learners. To complement this book, a workbook (including kanji and grammar exercises) will be published soon. We would be honored if you could use them together. Additionally, we have produced an audio cassette recording the dialogues and reading comprehension sections of this book.
Japanese for Study Abroad: Intermediate Japanese (Volume 1) is designed for foreigners who have completed the beginner level of Japanese (approximately 300 hours) and is a follow-up to "Japanese for Study Abroad: Beginner Japanese." Although this book is intended for Japanese learners outside of Japan, it also takes into account learners within Japan, allowing them to make full use of the book through different study methods. The purpose of this book is to master the fundamental abilities required to understand general Japanese conversations and read and comprehend articles. The book primarily guides readers to learn and master the four core skills of "listening, speaking, reading, and writing" in a step-by-step manner. It is recommended to first practice through speaking exercises and then reinforce the skills through reading and writing exercises.
The book consists of 14 lessons. Each lesson focuses on essential expressions and language functions needed in communication, taking into account the context of these expressions, and is supplemented with key vocabulary and grammar points.
