Features: Since the publication of the "French-Chinese Dictionary" in 1978, it has been well-received by readers and has become a staple medium-sized comprehensive language dictionary for those learning and using French. However, two decades have passed, and with societal development, language has evolved as well. The usage of certain French terms has changed, and many new words have emerged. To meet the needs of readers, we began this revision in 1998. This revision has added numerous new entries, focusing on incorporating new terms in fields such as economics, law, and science and technology (including computer science, information science, and biotechnology). At the same time, some outdated entries that are no longer commonly included in medium-sized French dictionaries and some examples with specific historical contexts have been removed. Additionally, the definitions and usage of a substantial number of entries have been revised or supplemented, and certain modifications have been made to the format. We have also adopted newer phonetic rules based on the trends in pronunciation development. The revised dictionary now includes approximately 65,000 entries, with increased capacity compared to the original. Our goal is to make the revised "New French-Chinese Dictionary" a more thorough and practical medium-sized dictionary.
