Features: This is a panoramic novel by Beijing-based young writer Qiu Huadong, reflecting the lives of the middle-income class in contemporary Chinese society. The narrative is skillful and concise, interspersed with explorations of human nature and a profound sense of compassion, demonstrating strong artistic impact. It is rare to see a novel that focuses on the lives of people in a urban community. However, the accomplished young writer Qiu Huadong has made a positive exploration in this work. The novel consists of 32 short chapters, depicting the stories of various characters in a "high-end" community in Beijing, portraying the complexities of urban life and sensitively capturing the emerging new class in today's rapidly transforming society, along with their life and emotional issues and pains. These individuals from the "middle class" are now becoming mainstream in contemporary China, each facing their own troubles: a white-collar woman whose life changes after being disfigured in a car accident; a single mother who must deal with her daughter's unplanned pregnancy; the tragic end of an online love affair; and the innocent yet fleeting life of a child with intellectual disabilities. They all seek an ideal life and strive to bear the challenges life imposes on them. This is the current state of "community culture" in China, which is still immature.
