Features: Even people who have visited Huanglong often get the name of the scenic area wrong, and some media outlets do too—either calling it "Huanglong Temple" or "Huanglong Cave." Perhaps this is because, in traditional Chinese culture, Huanglong is considered a deity rather than a place name. If it were a place name, it would have to be associated with Taoist temples, shrines, or caves, such as the Huanglong Cave in Hangzhou, Zhejiang, a Taoist blessed land, and the natural limestone cave in Zhangjiajie, Hunan. Maybe it's because the scenic area contains not only Huanglong Temple (with three levels: upper, middle, and lower) but also Huanglong Cave, which is China's largest travertine cave. Or maybe it's because when the area first opened, it was often paired with Jiuzhaigou, and the three-character name was easier to handle. But in reality, the name of this scenic area consists of only two characters—Huanglong.
The Huanglong Scenic Area is located in Songpan County, Sichuan Province, covering an area of 700 square kilometers. The landscape of the area is rich in variety, featuring uniquely shaped formations, vast scale, and intricate structures. This book primarily focuses on the magnificent surface travertine landscapes, complemented by the mountainous, forested, and cultural scenery, creating a breathtaking paradise on earth. It highlights eight groups of colorful ponds, the Jade Bathing Pool clusters, travertine waterfalls, Huanglong Waterfall, and Huanglong Cave, as well as Muni Valley. Under the backdrop of glaciers, alpine meadows, and icy peaks, the scenery is particularly spectacular. The book is accompanied by 127 photographs.
