Features: "Fundamentals of Information Processing Mathematics" is a newly compiled textbook with characteristics of the information age. The 21st century is an era of knowledge economy and information, where the popularization and application of computers have not only brought revolutionary changes to science, technology, and economic management but also had a profound impact on people's traditional work, study, and lifestyles. The development, application, and educational level of information technology have become one of the important indicators for measuring social progress. To improve information processing capabilities, a solid mathematical foundation is essential. With the further popularization of foundational mathematics courses in universities, we felt that the existing textbooks could no longer meet the needs of social development. To enhance students' adaptability to the times, reforms in foundational mathematics courses in universities, especially in textbook reform, are necessary. We believed that it was essential to compile a textbook that allows readers to learn more content in less time, particularly the mathematical knowledge urgently needed in the new era to improve their adaptability to the new era, especially in information processing. Based on these considerations, we undertook significant reforms in the textbooks for foundational mathematics courses in some undergraduate programs, especially for humanities majors, as well as for vocational education. We reduced the content of traditional topics such as variable mathematics and certain parts of linear algebra, while strengthening the coverage of finite mathematics. These are the fundamental mathematical knowledge required for studying computer science. During the writing process, we focused on the systematic nature of various branches of mathematics but did not pursue theoretical completeness. We omitted some theoretical proofs and emphasized the application of theories and methods to meet the needs of cultivating talent in the information age. The book primarily teaches the fundamental knowledge of data processing mathematics and can be used by students in all university majors. Each chapter of the book is relatively independent, and different majors can select the content they need to study based on the number of class hours available.
