Features: The Wubi (Five-Stroke) Character Input Method is an encoding system for Chinese characters invented by Professor Wang Yongmin, which completely follows the stroke order and structure of characters. This technology has become a valuable tool for many computer users. Following the release of Professor Wang Yongmin's 86 Wubi Input Method in 1986, he introduced the 98 Wangma Wubi Input Method in 1998. Compared to the previous version, the input method remains largely the same, with only slight changes in the distribution of character components. The 98 addresses many shortcomings of the 86 and includes many commonly used phrases and popular expressions in modern society. This book presents a comparison between the 98 and 86, listing the Wubi codes, component breakdowns, and word codes for 6,763 characters. It is portable and serves as an excellent reference for learning, querying, and practicing the Wubi input method. It helps beginners identify the component breakdown methods for each character in both versions and master their corresponding codes. Notably, the book lists the common phrase codes for each character in the 98, facilitating whole-word input for users. This aims to achieve proficiency in the Wubi input method and improve typing speed.
Based on the New Xinhua Dictionary, the book includes a phonetic index and a radical lookup table for convenient character retrieval. The appendix provides fundamental knowledge of the Wubi input method for both the 98 and 86, including the breakdown of radicals, common non-basic code units, full codes and cross-references for level-1 simplified codes, level-1 simplified code table, level-2 simplified code table, Wubi code flowchart, 98 Wubi code element keyboard diagram, and 86 Wubi code root keyboard diagram.
This book is a revised version of Wubi Dictionary, adopting a comparison between the 98 and 86 to list character codes and breakdown methods.
