Publishing Date: 2003-06-01
Features: This reference book, combining the functions of an anthology, commentary, and lookup, has become a valuable tool for students and literature enthusiasts due to its collection of the essence of Chinese literature and its accessible, richly informative content. To meet the needs of readers with different cultural backgrounds, a compact series of literary appreciation dictionaries has been compiled based on the original dictionary, selecting outstanding works, retaining some appendices, and rewriting them. This book includes the poems of 137 poets from the Song Dynasty, totaling 391 poems. The arrangement of authors in the main text is generally based on their birth years, with some exceptions based on death years. For authors whose birth and death years are unknown, they are arranged by the duration of their lives. The works of the same author are listed in chronological order. As a rule, each poem has a separate commentary, but some poems are discussed together. The book uses simplified characters, with traditional characters or variant characters used when necessary to avoid ambiguity. Difficult or ambiguous phrases in the poems are generally explained within the commentary, with occasional notes added at the end. Historical dates related to ancient history are generally presented in the old calendar system, with corresponding Common Era dates provided. Common Era dates in parentheses usually omit the word "year."
