Features: China is a land of poetry, with a long and glorious poetic history spanning over three thousand years. Poetry expresses emotions, conveys aspirations, describes forms, and analyzes reasoning. In China, without learning poetry, one cannot speak. This is because poetry is the wandering footsteps of a nation's soul, and it is the shared journey of you and me. Poetry names our lives, and it seeks and clarifies the meaning of our existence. What a precious spiritual heritage it is, filled with clouds and mist, and adorned with splendid prose. Those fragrant and tender emotions, those profound and rhythmic works—countless in number. A single crane soaring through the clear sky leads the poetic spirit to the highest heavens. Here, it is the land of poetry in the East, and the Eastern poetic culture guides us to seek the poetic essence of Chinese existence. Have you ever been proud, as a child of the land of Eastern poetry, as a descendant of the poetic sages? Have you ever felt ashamed, failing to live up to the glory and poetic passion of the sages, failing to honor the proud and immortal spirit of our poetic ancestors? A selection of classic poems and prose from ancient times. Every word is a pearl, every piece a masterpiece. Critically reviewed and commented on by experts from top Chinese literature departments.
