Patient's question:
Sweats a lot while sleeping at nightDoctor's answer:
It is a normal phenomenon for children to sweat while sleeping, as their sweat glands are more developed. Sweat secretion is controlled by the autonomic nervous system (vagus nerve). After falling asleep, the excitement of the vagus nerve leads to increased sweating, usually more on the head and face, but it typically subsides within one or two hours. If sweating persists after sleeping and is quite profuse, it could be a sign of a functional disorder of the autonomic nervous system, with some cases possibly being caused by calcium deficiency.
