Features: This book is a part of the series "Diplomats Look at the World." These works are contributed by senior diplomats of our country, who are veterans of diplomatic struggles under the command of three generations of central leadership. They have dedicated several decades of their lives to the diplomatic cause of the republic, sacrificing their youth and hard work. What is particularly commendable is that even after retiring, they remain committed to diplomacy, striving to open new platforms for serving the diplomatic work. They established the Diplomatic Writers' Association and, over the past decade, have published over a thousand articles and nearly a hundred books, receiving praise from all sectors of society both domestically and internationally. In their writings, there are the twists and turns of complex situations, as well as the joyful chapters of friendly exchanges; there are solemn reflections on major events, as well as casual portrayals of exotic tales from distant lands; there are analyses of intricate international issues, as well as revelations of long-buried political secrets. The works are vast and diverse, mostly based on personal experiences, observations, and firsthand accounts. They are engaging in content, sincere in emotion, and a perfect blend of intellectual depth, knowledge, and entertainment. It is hoped that this book will benefit readers in broadening their international perspectives, deepening their understanding of the world, and cultivating a love for their country and people.

This book is part of the series, authored by Liu Xinsheng, former Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Brunei, and Pan Zhengxiu, former Consul General of the People's Republic of China in Brunei. The two authors are a couple of seasoned diplomats with rich and diverse diplomatic experiences, many of which are little-known. Over their 40-year diplomatic careers, they have encountered conflicts on the India-Bhutan border, witnessed the normalization of China-India relations from thawing to normalcy; experienced the anti-Chinese wave in Indonesia, participating in China-Indonesia diplomatic negotiations; and, during periods of frequent political upheavals in the Philippines, personally witnessed scenes of government troops and rebel forces facing off with guns drawn. Later, as the first couple of Chinese Ambassadors to Brunei, they embarked together on a mission to a wealthy and uniquely ceremonial country in Asia, shouldering the responsibilities of establishing a new embassy and fostering bilateral relations. After concluding their duties as ambassadors abroad and returning to China, they were simultaneously recalled to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to oversee foreign-related affairs in Tibet, thus perfectly concluding their diplomatic careers.
