In 1973, he enrolled in the Chinese Department of Yan'an University to study. After graduating from university in 1976, he successively worked as an editor for "Shaanxi Literature" and "Yanhe" magazine. He served as the vice president of the Shaanxi Writers' Association. Starting in 1973, he began publishing works. He wrote long novels such as "Ordinary World," short story and novella collections such as "Contemporary Chronicle," etc. "A Thrilling Scene" and "Life" won the first and second national outstanding short story awards, respectively; "Ordinary World" won the third Mao Dun Literature Prize.
