Features: Dunhuang is a shining pearl on the ancient Silk Road. The Han, Uyghur, Tuyuhun, and Tibetan peoples living here jointly created Dunhuang culture. Therefore, as a symbol of Dunhuang studies, the cave art of Mogao Caves is a crystallization of their collective wisdom and also a product of religious and cultural exchanges between the East and the West. The development of Dunhuang studies requires both in-depth, high-quality academic research and popularization and promotion to let more people understand Dunhuang and appreciate its splendid and magnificent cultural connotations. The 21st century is not only a period of deep development for Dunhuang studies but also a period of widespread popularization. For this reason, the Nationalities Publishing House, in cooperation with the Key Research Base of Humanities and Social Sciences under the Ministry of Education—the Dunhuang Studies Research Institute of Lanzhou University—has launched the popular Dunhuang studies book series, "Dunhuang Anecdotes Collection." The book is divided into eight parts, including "The Origin of the Bodhisattva," "An Overview of Dunhuang Bodhisattvas," "The Compassionate Guanyin Bodhisattva," "Wisdom and Sword—The Manjusri Bodhisattva," and "The Future Buddha—The Maitreya Bodhisattva."
