Features: Pollyanna became wildly popular in the United States in the 1920s and quickly spread worldwide. It sold over a million copies in its original year and had been reprinted more than 50 times by 2001. The protagonist, Pollyanna, created by Eleanor Porter, was even included in dictionaries, as her other name was: optimism. Pollyanna is an 11-year-old girl whose mother passed away at an early age. She lives with her father, a pastor, but unfortunately, he also passed away. So, she had to move to her distant aunt Polly's house. However, this wealthy, eccentric aunt Polly, who lived alone in a large house, did not welcome her niece. She didn't even go to the station to meet Pollyanna but sent a maid, Nancy, instead. The little girl mistook the maid for her aunt. When she realized this, she cried, but soon found another reason for happiness and broke into laughter again. Pollyanna shared her "happiness theory" with many people in this small town, feeling as if she were playing a game of happiness. Mrs. Snow, who had been bedridden for a long time and had grown weary of everything, old Tom, Nancy, the eccentric Pendleton, and Dr. Ch—all were changed by the child's "happiness theory" and "game of happiness." Divorced couples stopped divorcing, the eccentric Pendleton adopted orphan Jimmy, the pastor changed his foolish thoughts, and both the town and the world were transformed in amazing ways. When she fell ill and lay in bed, an endless stream of visitors came to see her.
